We are a family run hotel and bar in the heart of Northumberland. Just on the other side of the historic Hadrian's wall where you can find amazing views of the country side.

We have recently gone through a full refurbishment and redesign of our hotel and bar area offering a more relaxing environment for our guests and travellers passing through the village.

Our rooms are all held at a high standard. We have a variety of rooms from budget twin bed room to a superior room over looking the beautiful river that flows through our little village. All of our rooms all have on suite bathrooms with power showers.

Our main focus is to ensure that all customers enjoy the relaxing and friendly environment that we have created while enjoying our local Ales, wide selection of spirts including gins, whiskeys, rums and of course fresh cocktails made by our talented bar staff.

Our bar area is heated by a roaring fire in the winter which creates a perfect environment for which you do not want to leave. The Railway is the perfect place to unwind in our outside seating area, where you can have either fresh pastries and coffee or a cold pint with crisp's.

Very enjoyable night

"We had a super tasty meal at The Railway. Nice range of dishes to choose from, some traditional and some with a South African influence. Recommend the SA curry with mash! Friendly and attentive service on a busy night. Very enjoyable evening"

"Visited for a couple of days as it's in a great location for seeing south Northumberland. En-suite room was comfortable and breakfast was included. No issues with parking in the private car park and the staff were friendly and attentive. Great for accessing Northumberland, Newcastle and the northern lakes."

"We booked very last minute and what a fantastic evening. Excellent clean and quiet room with great views over the Tyne river. Warm friendly welcome, cozy bar/lounge area for food, that was exceptional.... you have to try their chunky chips, they are amazing. What a gem of a place to stay. Thanks very much!"

"Wow... me and my partner went in for food, From the minute we walked in we were greeted by lovely friendly staff, we were shown out table. I had the duck special and my partner had the pork special, the best duck I have ever had, would highly recommend and will definitely be back for food."
